Granta park wins gold

Granta Park was thrilled to receive a ‘Gold Award’ for their Travel Management Plan at this year’s Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Workplace Travel Plan Awards.

Now in their 9th year, the Awards are an annual event that highlight the achievements and commitments of organisations to help reduce congestion, save their staff money, and promote sustainable and healthy commuting initiatives.

The Awards are run jointly by Travel for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough City Council's Travelchoice team who host this year’s ceremony at Peterborough Town Hall.

Speaking at the event this year were 11 times British Champion and 3 times Olympic Javelin thrower Goldie Sayers, and John Bridge OBE, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce.

Mark Webb, Business Manager for Travel for Cambridgeshire, said: "From our work with over 188 Cambridgeshire employment sites employing over 77,000 commuters, we know that well implemented workplace travel plans have a real effect on improving the local economy by reducing congestion, promoting health and reducing carbon emissions. With our colleagues at Peterborough’s Travelchoice team we are delighted to be rewarding those employers who are travel planning for the benefit of their business, their commuting staff and wider society.”

There are six stages to the awards this year, ranging from Endeavour, for employers demonstrating a commitment to travel planning, through to Diamond. Granta Park was delighted to receive a Gold Award for their comprehensive plan. Businesses receiving the Gold Award have adopted the travel plan ethos well and have made substantial progress with the aims and objectives set out. Staff have a good understanding of what the document promotes and trends are increasingly positive.
